Town of Caroline seeks Code & Fire Enforcement Officer

Qualifications: Good knowledge of modern construction trade. Education and building trade and/or fire-fighting experience as detailed in the Tompkins County Zoning/Code/Fire Enforcement Job Title. The successful candidate must participate in NYS Code Enforcement Training and obtain certification within a reasonable time frame of appointment date. 


Job Responsibilities: Administer and enforce the NYS Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and inspect construction and building use for compliance with applicable state and town laws for the towns of Caroline and Richford. Serve as the stormwater management officer. Manage Subdivision Review and Site Plan Review applications in coordination with the Town's Review/Planning Board. Maintain accurate records on all transactions and activities and prepare monthly reports. Engage with and educate the public on construction projects in order to insure safe, resilient buildings with minimum energy use and operating costs.

Temporary Code Office Support for Caroline and Richford

The town is currently seeking a new code officer as Kevin McMahon has taken a full-time position with Cortlandville. Dryden Code Enforcement Officers Kevin Ezell (kevin@dryden.ny.us) and David Sprout (david@dryden.ny.us) are providing us interim code services.

Office Hours: Weekly office hours at the Caroline Town Hall on Tuesdays from 10am - 12 pm. 
On-call: Dryden Town Hall Office: 607 844-8888 ext. 216; Kevin's cell # 607 822-3203, Dave's cell # 607 280-3503.
