Town Council: The board is now seeking applications from Caroline residents to fill the seat of councilmember for 2018. The salary for the position is $2,296 in 2018 and will be pro-rated to the actual start date. There will be a special election in the Fall of 2018 for the remainder of Mr. Reinbolt's term (calendar year 2019). Applicants should be able to participate in 2 monthly evening board meetings, as well as assume responsibility for one or more committee assignments. The estimated time commitment is 10-15 hours per month. We plan to interview applicants at our January 10 Town Business Meeting and make the appointment at our February 6 Town Agenda Meeting.

Volunteer Board Openings: Caroline’s Subdivision Review Board and Planning Board are still each in need of a member. The Subdivision Review Board (we are proposing to change the name to simply “Review Board”) meets on an as-needed basis to review applications for Subdivision and Site Plan Review. The Planning Board meets once each month and will be working on revision of the town’s Comprehensive Plan in 2018. The Town of Caroline will be accepting Credit/Debit Cards and E-Checks online for tax payment’s starting January 2nd, 2018.
You can go to www.townofcaroline.org and follow the link under Office of the Town Clerk for “Town and County Tax payments” or directly to the payment site at http://egov.basgov.com/Caroline/. There is a fee(s) to use these options (charged by the Processing Company and NOT the Town of Caroline). The fees for online payments are as follows: Credit Cards are a flat fee of $1.95 (up to $79.00 tax bill), with larger tax payment amounts incurring a 2.45% transaction fee, a $3.95 fee for debit cards and $1.75 fee for e-checks. These fees are charged by the payment processor (not the Town of Caroline). After the online payment is received, the Clerk’s office will mail a paid receipt to the property owner. In office payments by credit/debit card for dog, marriage and hunting/fishing licenses, as well as Building Permits will be accepted at the Town Clerk’s office during regular business hours. These credit and debit card payments also incur the same fees as online payment. We now expect to have drafts ready for public review in early 2018, at which point we will introduce them in an Information Session and schedule a Public Hearing. The Moratorium will expire on December 31st. Until the revised versions are adopted by the Town Board as new local laws, Caroline’s existing Subdivision and Site Plan Review Laws remain in place. |
