SUMMARY NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION BROOKTONDALE FIRE DISTRICT TOWN OF CAROLINE, TOMPKINS COUNTY, NEW YORK


TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF BROOKTONDALE FIRE DISTRICT, Town of


Caroline, Tompkins County, New York:


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to the Town Law of the State of New York that at a special election of the qualified voters of the Brooktondale Fire District (“Fire District”) will be held at the Brooktondale Fire Station at 786 Valley Road, Brooktondale, New York 14817, on February 13, 2018, between the hours of 6:00 o’clock p.m. and 9:00 o’clock p.m. for the purpose of voting upon the following proposition:


PROPOSITION NO. 1


Shall the Resolution entitled:


BOND RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS OF THE BROOKTONDALE FIRE DISTRICT, TOWN OF CAROLINE, TOMPKINS COUNTY, NEW YORK (THE “DISTRICT”), AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION AND EQUIPPING OF A FIRE PUMPER TANKER FIRE APPARATUS WITH ATTENDANT EQUIPMENT AND APPLIANCES AND SERVICES RELATED THERETO; ESTIMATING THE TOTAL COST THEREOF AT $355,000; APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT THEREFOR; AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $355,000 IN SERIAL AND/OR STATUTORY INSTALLMENT BONDS OF THE DISTRICT TO FINANCE SAID APPROPRIATION


Duly adopted by the Board of Fire Commissioners of said Fire District on January 8, 2018 be approved?


Those who are qualified to vote on the aforesaid proposition are qualified voters who shall have resided in said Fire District for thirty days next preceding such election.

Sealed Bids for the construction of the above named project will be received by the Town Clerk at the Town Hall, PO Box 136, 2668 Slaterville Road, Slaterville Springs, NY14881 until 2:00 PM local time Thursday, February 8, 2018 and will then be publicly opened and read.
 
In general, the project consists of the following:  Stream bank restoration for approximately 350 linear feet along Buffalo Road.   Restoration techniques to include large stacked rock bank protection, large rip-rap placement, stream grade control using in stream riffles, and final restoration of disturbed soils.
 
A Non-Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be held at 10:00 am local time, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Town of Caroline Town Hall followed by a guided site visit. All other site visits and access across private lands by interested bidders and their agents must be arranged through the Owner with 48 hours prior notice.
 
The Contract Documents may be inspected at the Town Hall and the office of the Engineer. Copies of said Contract Documents may be obtained only at the office of the Engineer (Issuing Office) during normal business hours at no cost.
 
-Bidders requesting overnight delivery of the Contract Documents must provide a carrier account number.
-All Bids must be made on the official Bid Forms, and be accompanied by a certified check or satisfactory bid bond, payable to the Town of Caroline, in the amount equal to 5% of the Base Bid.
-All such bid securities will be returned no later than the forty-sixth day after the Bid opening.
-The Town of Caroline Board reserves the right to reject all bids, or to reject any bid because of informality.
